car repairs

Question by  amberjusm (306)

Why won't the car start?

The black wire is hot, could that have something to do with it?

Generally the first thing to check when the car won't even turn over(it just clicks), is the battery cable connections. Ensure it's clean and well connected. There could be a problem with the cable itself, or with the starter or alternator. Check with your mechanic.

If you have a black wire that is very hot, you either have a short to ground, check for continuity to the hot wire. Or one of your other grounds is off the car. But first check to make sure that both battery cables are tight, and have good continuity.

Yes maybe. There must be some kind of problem with the engine, accumulator or the wiring. You better call the service. What was the last time you went to a service for a full check of your car? Well, maybe you should.

There are a number of reasons why a car wont start and cars have a lot of black wires. Will it turn over at all? If it wont its battery. If it will rev then it could be a short.

Most likely it is the battery. The battery in my car went kaput. After I replaced it, the car is starting like a charm. If I were you that would be the first thing I would check.
