Why is the pendulum on my Elgin wall clock not working?

It just stopped all of a sudden.

Elgin clocks are almost exclusively battery-operated. It's quite likely yours just needs a new battery, especially if it is the kind that does not plug into the wall. Check the back of the unit for a battery compartment.

If the clock is battery powered, the battery may be dead. If it is powered by a wind-up mechanism, it may just need to be re-wound. There could also be debris in the gear mechanisms, or a broken component inside the gear compartment. Clocks are extremely sensitive, so it may just be a small fix needed.

There must be some kind of twitch in your pendulum. Just try rotating it a couple of times and it should work. Also, if the time is correct, then you might just want to reset the settings on the back of your clock. Sometimes it happens and starts working again.

This could be a problem of many sorts, a gear, a broken piece, battery (if powered by one) I would take it in to look at if it's worth it.
