Why is the air conditioner pipe not cold?

"Warm"-pipes from the Expansion-valve to the Evaporator-coil means that either: You have a refrigerant-leak, or Your-air-conditioning-compressor has failed. Air-conditioner (or freezer, or refrigerator) pipes should be: "Very-Hot" from the Compressor to the Condensing-Coil, Then "Warm" from Condensing-Coil to the Expansion-valve; Then "Ice-cold" from the Expansion-valve to the Evaporator-coil; Then either "Cool" or "Warm" from the Evaporator-coil to the Compressor.

Not all air conditioner pipes are cold. Some return lines to the compressor unit will be warm to hot. This is because when the gases used to create the cold air are compressed they must be returned to heat to expand to complete the cycle.

Well if your air conditioner pipe is usually supposed to be hot, this indicates that the pipe is working and is being used.

I am going to go on the assumption that you are not getting any cold air. You may be low or out of refrigerant in the cooling system. Check to see if your compressor is running. The fan may run but the compressor may not be. A relay switch may be bad. Ask someone knowledgeable in this area.

Think about it this way. The air conditioner is conveying heat outside, therefore the pipe is really hot. The return pipe is warm because the heat exchanger outside can't wring all the heat out of it. There is no cold coming into your house: just fluid coming in that gets really hot, goes outside and cools down slightly.

Freon could be depleted and needing a re-charge.Other thing's to check is the filter's and the radiator's for build up,look for leak's or aged pipe's.Could be a simple Temperature Regulator. If it has a manual with it look up trouble shooting and select the Cause's of the malfunction.

Well if the pipe is not cold, that means that it may be centralized to operate like this. It should actually be hot which indicates that it is working good.

It is either not running or it may not have any R22 gas in it but that depends on which pipe it is if it is the high side thats the hot if its the low side thats the cold so it all depends on which one you are talking about.

The fan may not be working so that it is not bringing in air which is then cooled.check if all the fans are working to capacity.
