Why is my umbrella plant dying?

Your best chance for saving it is to set it outdoors and let the sun work on it. Yes, you were overwatering it indoors and the bugs are fungus gnats. But, if you put it outdoors and the sun works on it it will perk up much faster and then it will start needing watered every couple of days.

Umbrella plants need plenty of indirect light. They also get root rot when they are watered too frequently. These are the most common factors when an umbrella plant dies.

The umbrella plant can easily adapt to different exposures to light, however it does prefer to be more dry than wet. Also if you have a good 7-8inch piece that is healthy with some leaves, you can simply pot that and it should grow as well. Never forget to tell your plants they are beautiful!

If it is an indoor plant, the most common reason for plants dying is overwatering. The reason being is that people often mistake the "droopiness" of a plant for being underwatered, so they water it more. Then the roots get soggy and rot. It could be pests also.

This birthday my friend presented me an umbrella tree which looks sickly and have 7 to 9 leafs. After 2 weeks it started to lose its leaves without turning to yellow. I looked for signs of insects but I can't find anything. Any suggestions help me to save my tree which is too precious for me.
