Why is my plasma television so dark?

One of the causes could be a screen problem or because the plasma tv is old and it is starting to lose it's quality. Then again, it could be from the tv settings. You can change them from it's remote control or even the television itself and change the brightness of the television screen.

It is dark because it is not properly back lit. Additionally it does not reflect light properly due to the plasma. Also the larger size of the screen makes it appear darker, relative to other types of televisions.

It could be because of the colors. You may have adjusted the colors in the wrong way. You want to access all the colors and turn the brightness and contrast off. It's usually a result of high contrast. You want the low contrast as much as possible to avoid dark screens.

Just try turning up the brightness settings. This should be accessed by pressing the 'menu' button and then navigating until you reach the 'brightness' section. Adjust accordingly.

That will sometimes happen if you forget to turn it off at regular intervals. Always make sure you spend at least 15 minutes a day with it off.

Plasma TV's, like LCD and projection sets, will eventually dim over time due to the bulb losing its brightness. They are replaceable, however if the TV is less than 60,000 hours old, there may be a manufacturing defect as Plasma screens have a life of the aforementioned 60,000 hours before it reaches half its brightness.

There are a couple of reasons that this could be happening. One reason is that it is getting old. I'm not sure how old the TV is, but that may be the problem. Another reason that it may be so dark is that you have the brightness settings on a low setting. Try increasing the brightness setting.
