The number one reason it appears to be smoking is due to a faulty gas cap. When not working properly, it expels gas fumes that appears to smoke. Change cap.
You probably have a bed gas cap. It is leaking fumes through it and that is why you are seeing smoke come out. I would say to get a new gas cap so you have a brand new seal for it.
