Why is my hamster losing hair?

I'm somewhat concerned.

Your hamster is probably just getting old, like your Uncle Max. Pretty soon the top of the head just comes through where the hair used to be. Hakuna Matata.

Maybe he has a vitamin deficiency. It is also possible that he has a skin infection. Or he could be pulling out his own fur due to a nervous habit.

it may be stressed and pulling out its own hair , is sick, or has a disease from its food.

Your hamster might be stressed, it might be pulling out it's own hair, it is not getting proper nutrients, or it is sick. It is usually a psychological issue if your hamster is pulling out it's own hair, but checking with a Vet is the best thing.

This could be a result of Mange - a condition caused by mites that can spread from other hamsters or even from infected bedding. Also look for scratching and scabs.
