The most common cause of stalling out while driving, especially with s Chevy Cavalier, is a clogged or dirty fuel filter or clogged fuel lines. This is preventing the gas from reaching the combustion chamber. You car's engine simply isn't getting the fuel it needs to produce the force necessary to keep running.

It is most likely your idle air control valve. It could be the mass air flow sensor as well. If it is happening while you are driving and not stopped it is most likely the MAF.
