Cats spend a good deal of time grooming themselves as well as items or other animals that resemble themselves; even feathers. Cats are also very attracted to salt which could explain why your cat licks your skin. But then again, she may just like to lick things. Most cats limit it to themselves, but every cat is different!

Cats generally lick everything. They lick themselves to clean and them lick other things so they can clean them too. You don't have to worry, she will not die or something.

Some cats, like people, are born with certain fetishes. Being taken from the mother too young can cause a cat to lick, and even suck, on odd things.

Cats like to stay as clean as possible, and most of their licking is actually grooming. They'll lick themselves after eating, after the litter box (ugh! ), and just in general to make sure their fur is in place and they look their best. When they lick a person, it's usually a sign of affection.
