Answer by  AKMGabriel (241)

The Northern Hemisphere is tilted towards the sun and "closer" to the suns rays during the "summer" months of the year than the southern Hemisphere. This allows for longer amounts of daylight and therefore greater heat stores and more active plant growth. This warming creates the summer temperatures and the greater levels of light increase plant growth efficiency.

The earth is tilted at an angle of about 23 degrees on the galactic plane, and from the spring to fall equinox the northern hemisphere receives more light. The northern gets hotter too because there is more land in the northern than southern, and less heat is absorbed over land.
