Why does my knee click when I climb the stairs?

It doesn't hurt at all, but my left knee makes a clicking sound on every step when i go upstairs.

Presence of a loose body in the joint space can cause clicking in the knee. This is secondary to wear and tear of the knee cushion-the menisci.

Since I don't know your age, it is a bit difficult to pinpoint the issue at hand, however, this clicking could definitely be related to overuse of the knee. Overuse can lead to a diagnosis of arthritis, which only your physician can give you. If it is painful or continues to be a bother, contact your doctor.

it is not due to any major problem. It is a clicking sound produced by the joints and also due to fluid movement. At night, while laying on the bed you may feel to fold the leg and when the clicking sound comes, you will feel some comfort.
