Why does my dog have swollen cheeks?

This could be a couple things. The most likely is he got into something that made him sick. Toads will cause inflammation of the mucous membranes, its their defense mechanism.

If your dog doesn't normally have swollen cheeks, it could be having an allergic reaction to something. If the swelling isn't bothering him, you can probably just wait for his cheeks to return to normal size. Otherwise take him to the vet for a steroid shot to reduce the swelling.

Swollen cheeks in dogs can be quite common. One of the first things that comes to mind is the lining could be irritated from chewing on a dog toy for a long period of time. It is best to keep a close eye on it for any changes or blood.

Not really a good idea when you don't know the cause of the swelling. Perhaps he's got tooth and/or gum problems.
