The fuel pump might make noise due to clogging or it is going bad. A mechanic should be consulted to properly ascertain the problem. However, keep in mind that some fuel pumps typically "hum" as a indication that it is working properly. The car manual might address this application.

The fuel pump is probably going bad. It may also be clogged partially and can't work properly. You should take it to a mechanic and have them take a look at it for you to make sure that it isn't some other problem. I don't reccomend messing around with it yourself. Gas fuems explode easy

A low hum is normal as the motor is operating. An increase in noise may be an indicator that the pump is worn out and about to fail. Since the pump is in the tank is depends on the fuel in the tank to keep it cool. Running the tank toward empty can cause the pump to overheat and fail.

Most fuel pumps make some amount of noise, some are more noticeable than others. If this is a new noise it could be a sign the that fuel filer, or pump filter are clogged. It could also be a sign that your fuel pump is nearing the end of it's life.

Your Chrysler fuel pump may be going bad, as it may be clogged or just getting old. Make an appointment with a local mechanic to have them further inspect it.

All electric fuel pumps make noise, some more than others. Chrysler fuel pumps are actually a little quieter than the norm. Fuel pumps in GM products are notoriously loud, Fords less so.

It is hard to diagnose this problem over the internet but I would take it seriously. You need to get it replaced A. S. A. P
