Why does my carpet smell like pet urine every time I shampoo it?

I used a cleaner on the pet stains before.

Your pet may be urinating on it still. Its also one of the hardest smells to get out of anything so your cleaner may not be working.

If the urine gets into the padding of the carpet, every time you shampoo it you are just re-wetting it. Traditional carpet cleaners won't remove the smell of the pet urine, you need to buy a special pet stain cleaner that contains enzymes. The enzymes will deactivate the urine and actually remove the odor.

Pet's urine gets into the padding of the carpet and gets the carpet wet,damp and bad smelly it. traditional carpet cleaners like shampoo won't remove the smell.Special pet cleaner like Oror Rid that can remove the odor.Odor remover also can remove the odor.After use of special pet cleaner then we should use shampoo.

You or the previous owner must of had a cat that urinated on the carpet. You should go to a specialty shop that sells odor remover and spray on the carpet and then shampoo again. There is a product called Odor Rid that should do the trick. You can also ask them what they recommed.
