Why do they use grey paint on naval ships?

i think they use grey paint on naval ships just for the simple reason that they all match up. with sonar camo wouldnt make to much sense

Battleship grey is the closest to the most common color of the horizon and makes visual perception of the battleship harder through aides like binoculars.
