Why do people tattletale on coworkers?

It seems like people love to tattle on their coworkers.

Because some people just have nothing better to do but concern themselves with other people's business. Then there are those that think they will get in good with the boss if they rat on their fellow co-workers. It doesn't always have to do with one pulling his/her own weight.

I think it is because it makes them feel better about themselves to tell on people that are doing something they think is wrong. It is human nature to want to make ourselves look better in front of our bosses or coworkers. Then they can brag about it to their friends.

If one person does not seem to be pulling their weight, it creates more work for the others as well as resentment. That resentment naturally leads to tattling, also called reporting to the boss.

It's just human nature. Plus with the economy, I'm sure that people are looking for ways to get others canned so they won't lose their own job.

A worker who breaks the rules is messing up the work environment and throwing off the productivity of everyone else. This bothers people who care about the work they do.

Tattletales and Gossips are the worst workplace problems out of any problem that you can think of, In my honest opinion. They care about themselves and that is it and they do bring strife and animosity into the workplace.
