Mormons believe that God wants them to have lots of kids. Also, several Mormon prophets have taught that birth control is either wrong or only for limited use.

Mormons generally believe that children are a blessing from the Lord, so they encourage families to have lots of children.

Mormons often have larger families because they are commanded to be fruitful and multiply in Scripture. In a very small number of Mormon families, they have lots of children because of polygamy.

Not every Mormon family has a lot of kids. I am Mormon, and I only have 1 sister. There is a great emphasis placed upon family in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (preferred to the nickname Mormon), I suspect that is the main reason, as well as the commandment to multiply and replenish the earth.

Mormons believe that God has created a certain number of souls who are waiting to be expressed as life on Earth. God's highest plans for the world can't be completed until each "spirit child" attains life, so Mormons have an obligation to get as many of them here as possible, so long as they can support and care for them.

If they are not smart in other ways what makes you think they are smart when it comes to having kids and/or sex. They are the ones who do not understand that there are ways to prevent having kids.

Not all families in this religion do have a lot of kids. Many who participate in the LDS (Latter Day Saints) faith feel that the creation, building and strengthening of families is one of their biggest purposes in life. Because of this, many of them desire to have a lot of children.

Mormons, also called the Church of Jesus Christ and the Latter Day Saints or LDS, believe that one of the requirements for the highest level of heaven is to provide physical bodies for souls still in heaven. The more children one has, the greater the spiritual rewards.
