Pink eye is usually caused by viral or bacterial infection. When you have pink eye, there are number of different objects that you may be touching or using. Then there is a chance that these objects might have been affected by the pink eye infection. When you use them again there is a chance for you to get affected again.

Pink eye is caused by a bacteria that is remaining in your eye or that keeps on being re-introduced into your eye. Often replacing anything that goes near the eye, like eyeshadow breaks the infection cycle. Completely treating the infection is also important.

You should try to be more hygienic. Wash your hands more, do not touch your eyes, wash all clothing and bed sheets/covers. Pink eye can live on other surfaces and reinfect if not properly sanitized.

There are two kinds of pink eye: viral and bacterial. When you treat pink eye, make sure you change your bed linens, towels and washcloths and launder them in hot water. If you work in an environment where there is frequent pink eye (young kids), you can easily get re-infected.
