If the blotches are greeninsh or purple then they have been exposed to magnets which can permanently damage tv screens.

Because your TV is old and the screen is wearing out. I would suggest getting a new TV because it will cost more than its worth to get it fixed.

If the blotches are purplish or greenish, this might be due to an electromagnetic field nearby affecting your screen. Usually this is caused by nearby external speakers, woofers, and sound systems. Having other electronic equipment in the proximity or large magnets passed nearby at least once can also affect.

This could be caused by many things, maybe the color panels are wearing out. Maybe becuase it is just getting older. Another possibility is the TV was hit with something.

my guess is your house is very moist and water spots going into your TV through evaporation. I would put it next to a heater.

The pink spots you describe could individual pixels that are always on. They would be very small and in the same spot. Since it is always on it would also seem brighter than the pixels around it. Pixel on the panel would show up on top of all these things.

If you have an older tube powered TV the blotches could have come from someone placing a magnet up to the screen.

The lamp of light progection may be bad. If you have a lamp in the back of your screen pull it out and order the part from the computer.
