If you were taking certain medications during your exposure to the sun, the sunburn could be 2-3x as bad as when you are not taking the medication. There have been cases where people have had a very adverse reaction to a sunscreen itself which may leave a rash.

You may have a condition that is particularly sensitive to the sun and even though the exposure was some time ago, the skin reaction remains. People with lupus are sensitive to sunlight and develop a rash, which often leads to the actual diagnosis. See your physician.

A severe sunburn causes havoc with your skin, and even after the burn starts to go away the body is saying ouch. So often there is a rash for a week or so after the burn subsides.
