Because there is either a loose connection, or because the insulation on the wires you use to connect your laptop is worn.

The quality of connection cords that you are using could be the factor. The other things that you need to look at are the connection to both the stereo and laptop. If there is movement at the site of connection it could produce a static sound. If that is not the issue your stereo might have busted speakers.

May be there is aconnection problem or you inserted the plug into the antenna hole. Usually the laptops don`t have earth connections, but ordinary stereos must have one. So try to connect the earth connection for the stereo. Hope this will work.

Your laptop isn't made to connect to a stereo. If the built-in speakers on your laptop aren't enough, visit your local tech store to purchase a subwoofer and a pair of speakers, or simply plug a set of headphones into your laptop.

If your laptop's volume is too loud the stereo may be limiting the availible signal to prevent damage to componets. A bad cable or bad jacks could cause the problem too. Another thing to check is make sure the stereo input selector is correctly set to recieve the signal.

You are probably using an improper kind of cord, or the voltage may be wrong. It is also possible you may have a faulty connection. Check the user manuals for both your laptop and stereo to see if that solves the issue. if not, you may want to try connecting it with a differet cord or to a different stereo.

Make sure the stereo is set to input/AUX mode. Additionally, make sure the volume on the laptop is loud enough; the output voltage for the headphone jack on a laptop is lower than typical outputs.

Chances are there is a wrong connection on either side. Make sure that you have connect the audio out port of the laptop to an audio input of the stereo. I know laptops can have several similar jack that can easily be confused.

Well this is possibly because the wire you are using is not good enough. You can't just connect your laptop to the stereo . You need a special kind of wire to get the sound going from laptop to the stereo. Just type in amplification wire on ebay and purchase it.
