There are many reasons why veins are becoming visible on your skin. Factors can include age, low circulation, and hereditary issues. They can also be caused from exercise, especially if you are a runner.

These are usually referred to as "varicose veins," and they are most likely to appear on the leggs if they appear. They are the result of faulty valves in the veins. These valves wear out over time in some people, and the blood tends to pool during times of low blood pressure, pushing the veins closer to the skin surface.

Veins shows through your skin because they say your skin gets thinner the older you get. Some people their blood is thicker also.

Veins predominatly showing are both a sign of a low bodyfat percentage and genetics. Some people are born with their veins showing more than others. Others are this way because they are too skinny. If you don't like having veins showing just eat more food and gain fat to cover them up.

This problem may be caused by a couple of conditions. This is usually a normal part of aging. As the skin thins out veins and cappilaries become more visible. Another reason may be poor circulation causing a "pooling" of blood within the blood vessels particularly of the lower extremities(legs and ankles). Another cause is broken cappilaries near the skin's surface.

Depending on where they are, sometimes people get whats called spider veins. They are often found on your legs from excessive standing, maybe from working.
