Artists like Leonardo de Vinci, Michelangelo, Holbein, Durer, Caravaggio, Raphael, Van Eyck, Fra Angelico, Donatello, Titian, were some of the painters and sculptors who responded to the cultural awakening of the time. New ideas in science, philosophy, and arts in general coupled with an expansion of wealth stimulated the cultivation arts and learning within the ruling classes.
