Depending on what one considers to be an "emperor," the Roman Empire had upwards of a hundred emperors. Significant emperors include Augustus Caesar, 27 BC-14 AD, Marcus Aurelius, 161-180 AD, Diocletian, 284-305 AD, and Constantine, 306-337 AD. After the 500s, emperors of the Eastern Roman Empire are considered Byzantine instead.
