Napoleon Bonaparte was the Emperor of France from 1804 to 1815. He rose up through the ranks of the French military to eventually overtake the French government and install himself as Emperor. Once in power Napoleon waged a series of wars to expand the size of the French Empire.

Napoleon, born August 15 1769 - May 5 1821, actions shaped European politics in the early 19th century. He was a military and political leader in France and Emperor of France known as Napoleon the First. He is remembered for the establishment of the Napoleonic code, which laid the administrative and judicial foundations for much of Western Europe.

Napoleon was a great Military leader who managed to gain control of France following the French Revolution, and during the 1800s led a series of Military campaigns throughout Europe. However, following the failures of his armies (including in Russia) he eventually lost favour with the French people and was sent into exile at Elba and St. Helena.

Napoleon was a military leader and eventually dictator in France. He led France in many battles and was finally exiled in disgrace.
