Chemotherapy is treatment used to treat cancer. Not all cancers will decrease in size with chemotherapy, whereas other cancers can be cured with chemotherapy. Chemotherapy is a specialized medication which must be given by experts - be sure to see an oncologist for the correct treatment.

There are a myriad of different forms of chemotherapy, each one 'tuned' to a different type of cancer. The doctor must take a biopsy (sample) of the cancer cells, determine what kind they are, and prescribe the chemotherapy accordingly. Many cancers respond to chemotherapy, some do not and are better treated with radiation or surgical removal.

I think anyone diagnosed with cancer early should take chemo. Chances for survival are way better. People who are late in stages of cancer and are told chemo could possibly help shouldn't take it. My uncle was in those shoes and he suffered on his last days with chemo. Chances arn't as good with later stages.

People should take chemotherapy who have a confirmed diagnosis of cancer of a type that is responsive to chemotherapy. Allergy to the specific agent may be a reason not to take the therapy.

Just about anyone who needs chemotherapy can take it, unless they are too ill to withstand the effects. There is a hesitancy to give cytotoxic chemo to older people.

In my opinion no one should ever receive chemotherapy. There are numerous alternative remedies. For a very eye opening look at the use of chemotherapy versus alternative medicines you should view the film Healing Cancer. You will find it to be very informative on this particular subject and its eventual outcome.
