The PGA decides well in advance where the tournaments will be held. They are usually at the same location every year at about the same time in the year. It is a major change when a tournament location is either added or dropped from the schedule. The PGA has a very tough requirement list to add tournaments.

The commissioner of the PGA will have the deciding say on where a PGA tournament is held. The decision is usually in collaboration with the tournament sponsor.

PGA tournaments are usually held at the same locations year after year. The PGA sets a calendar that is often a couple of years in advance so the tournaments have time to prepare. For example, the Colonial tournament is held in Ft Worth, Texas usually every year some time in May and close to the Byron Nelson tournament in Dallas.
