Popeye the sailor man is obviously the man character in the cartoon, Olive Oyl is the girl he's after. Bluto is his enemy he always fights with. Popeye is the adoptive father of Sweet Pea whom he found on his doorstep and he also has four nephews; Peepeye, Pipeye, Pupeye and Poopeye.

There were only three main characters from the cartoon show, Popeye. The first and most obvious character was Popeye, "the sailor man." Popeye's love interest in the cartoon was a woman named Olive Oyl. Lastly, the third main character was named Brutus. Brutus was Popeye's arch-nemesis on the show, and he always tried to steal away Olive Oyl.
