I know it's not pc to say so, but knitting is far superior to crocheting. Whether it is harder to learn (which it's not), it creates garments that are far more attractive than crochet, in my opinion.

Knitting might be older, but Crochet is far more versatile. And besides knitting can be produced on a machine, Crochet can only be done by hand. No machine can replicate Crochet. And with Crochet you can get more intricate than you ever could with knitting.

Neither is better than the other. Why limit yourself? Learn both! :)

Neither knitting nor crocheting is terribly hard. I taught myself both as a child just using books. I find the knitting movements more relaxing than the relatively jerky crochet motion. I usually prefer knitted products, but there are some wonderful exceptions to this! Try them both. :-)

It's a matter of opinion. I like both, they give you different looks. To say that crochet is easier to learn I think is true. To say that crochet patterns are simple is totally false. You and get fairly complex works out of crochet.

It depends on what you do with it. If you are going to crochet a purple and pink bikini for your cat, it may be tacky, but an Irish Lace tablecloth can be quite elegant. Likewise, a soft knitted scarf is better than a scratchy knitted sock in any color.

Crochet - quick easy and can be very pretty if you choose the right project. See my profile on Ravelry - Seira - and check my favorites for neat looking crochet. Knitting - makes a finer, drapier fabric that is not see through. More versatile all-around for garments. I crochet 70% of the time, and knit the rest. i like knitting, but it hurts my hands a bit. Thankfully I knit continental so the little knitting I do goes fast! =)

Crocheting is generally easier than knitting, and I enjoy it more, but knitted products do look more realistic and prettier than crochet objects. But it all depends on who you are. Neither is better than the other 0_o

I prefer crocheting because it is so much fun, i watch my mother knit and i think it is complicating to me. Or you could try both, and see what you like the most, have fun with it!

Crocheting is easier to learn because it uses a single needle with a hook at the end. However, once you master knitting you can create far more different items and learn different types of styles. Crocheting is just one type of style and it looks the same after awhile.

Knitting or crocheting is a matter of individual choice, therefore, one should not be considered better than the other. Knitting can give you a machine made look, if you are very experienced at the craft, while crocheting may give a open more casual look to your finished garment.

I think crochet is easier to learn. Crochet is fast to work up and it is pretty goof-proof (again, in my opinion). Knitting seems popular now, so there are more easily accessible magazines and knitting patterns. Knitting can be very intricate if you want to do something like that. It really just depends on what you're looking for.

Knitting has been around a lot longer than crochet.
