Which is better for a solitaire: a 4-prong or 6-prong setting?

It really depends on what kind of cut the diamond is. For different shape diamonds different settings are better. FOr the square cut diamonds most of them use a four prong style. Several of the more round diamonds use six prong settings.

Depending on the cut of the stone a six prong is usually a more secure setting. But a four works well also.
