Which is a safe gay housing area in Indianapolis?

I had a gay friend that lived in Indianapolis. He lived in the middle downtown area in a nice fixed up building. He never had a problem due to sexuality.

Indianapolis is pretty neutral towards gays. The more inner city the better, the "country" areas would be less safe. Just be discreet.
