The Sahara desert is located in the nothern half of the African continent spreading from the Atlantic Ocean on the east coast to the Indian Ocean on the west.

The Sahara desert is one of the very largest deserts in the world, and it is located in the northeastern part of Africa. This desolate area is almost totally devoid of life, and the few creatures and people who do manage to live there are very tough. The only other desert of comparable size is the Gobi desert.
