I think it depends how big your food chain is. The barn owl is pretty much at the top of the food chain for its ecosystem it lives in. Barn owls eat snakes, rabbits, shrews, mice, bats, smaller birds, etc. But I imagine if a barn owl took on too big of a snake, it would get in trouble.
