Giant Armadillos were once found in the tropical forests of eastern South America. Now they are found as far south as northern Argentina. Unfortunately this species is considered vulnerable to extinction.

You can find giant armadillos in South America, in the grasslands, brush lands, woodlands and forests. Brazil is a hot spot for them. They like to live in burrows by water. There bodies are 30 to 40 inches long, plus their 20 inch tail. They can weigh up to 130lbs.

The Giant Armadillos' natural habitat is in central South America, so to see one in the wild you would have to travel there. Otherwise, you would have to go to a zoo to see one. They have them at the San Diego Zoo and the Smithsonian Zoo, among others.
