The keyboarding teacher at my school uses a website called powertyping to teach our sixth graders to type. It has lots of drills and a timed typing test.

There are many free online typing games that help you learn in a fun way. Also getting a screen name and talking to people on there as much as possible will help you learn and memorize where the keys are.

You can google search for freeware programs or go to the typingsoft website and they have a free typing tutor software and there's also a link on the mainpage to a list of sites for "rival" typing programs and of free online typing sites. If you use the Firefox browser there's an add-on called "Addictive Typing Lessons".
