You can study techniques online from a local community college or you can request a sit in on your child's classroom, to get a better idea of what is happening.

Visiting with your child's teacher is the best place to start. Often times PTA groups will bring in local educators or visiting college professors to do workshops with parents on specific topics. You could request this topic.
