Call Nintendo, or their support line, and they will give you instructions on what to do to get the machine fixed. They will also walk you through some troubleshooting, just to be sure it actually does need come in for repairs. Hopefully, they will be able to fix the problem without needing to take the gameboy in.

This depends on a few factors. If you have gotten it recently, you might be able to get it covered for free under warranty service. Some electronics/computer repair places might be able to help you out, and a few of them are actually certified by Nintendo to do repairs. Shop around, and check online for Nintendo's contact information.
