Picea engelmannii (Engelmann Spruce) is a high altitude mountain tree, growing at 900-3650 m altitude native to North America. This tree can be found in the west of Canada, US and Mexico. For example, in Canada the Engelmann Spruce can be found from central British Columbia to southwest Alberta.

This tree can be found in Alberta, British Columbia, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, North Idaho and New Mexico. It is found at high altitudes (for example, on high mountain slopes), and favors deep, moist, rich soils. It has a shallow root system and this makes it susceptible to windthrow. The average height is 110ft, living for approximately 300 years.
