You should definitely shop at your local thrift store. People turn in beautiful clothes and furniture that they simply don't want or need anymore. Cleaned up it looks awesome.

Try liquidation stores for a wide selection. Large box stores often have major sales to make room for new lines. If you are okay with used, try the thrift shoppes. There are web sites that give gently used furniture free to good homes... worth checking into.
