Neon car lights are legal in most jurisdictions. However, the color is proscribed. Generally, blue lights and red lights are not allowed because they represent plows and police vehicles

Neon car light legality is governed at the state, provincial and even municipal level, concerning the color, location and flashing of neon car lights. Therefore, you are best served by asking your local police department for a rundown on any restrictions in your area. This will help you to make the best purchase, without any regrets.

Each state has different restrictions regarding the addition of neon lighting to vehicles. Most restrict the use of red, blue and often green lighting, and all flashing lights. Some allow under-body lighting, but no other type. Check with your local police department regarding the law in your area or research the state law online.
