Meerkets are not part of the food chain, unless you would consider them a type meat. They tend to be considered safe animals, as only other animals would risk at eating them. However,if you do eat meerkats, then my best advice would be to consider them a type of meat.

In the wild, meerkats are near the bottom of the food chain. They eat bugs and larger animals like birds eat them.

Meerkats eat small birds and insects so they are carnivores but they are hunted by birds and larger cats and other wild animals.

Meerkats are rather low on the food chain, they have to be very careful going about their daily business, someone always needs to stand by.
