The Battles of Lexington and Concord occurred on April 19, 1775, between the British army and colonial militia forces. The British received orders to capture weapons that the militia had supposedly been storing at Concord, and the Battle of Lexington occurred as they retreated back to Boston from this failed expedition.

The battle of Lexington began the Revolutionary War with the shot heard around the world in the year 1775. Farmers fired the first shot in defense of their lands goods, and money that were being taxed by the English. The war ended in 1783 with America gaining her independence from England.
