It is held from March 26-April 10 2011. In 1912, Japan gave the United States a gift of cherry blossom trees. These trees symbolize peace and friendship between the Japanese and the Americans. Although there are many cultural events, most relate to Japan and are not related to the legend of Washington chopping down a cherry tree.

It's held March 26 - April 10, 2011. The event is about Japan's gift to the United States. It doesn't have anything to do with the Washington legend. It celebrates friendship and has crafts and fireworks, displays and other events. The cherry blossoms are in full bloom when the event is held.
