When do you use Imodium for children?

My doctor said I can use it when we need to, but I'm not sure what that means.

Imodium is used to treat diarrhea and can be used as needed. However, for children you should only use child specific Imodium. The problem with taking it too often is that it will actually create constipation if overused. It slows the activity of the bowels which may be good in the short run but not so good over time.

You would usually use Imodium in the case that your children is suffering from chronic diarrhea or nausea. The amount that you should give your child will be explained on the bottle of the imodium. If your child is between the ages of 2 and 5, you should use the non-prescription liquid formula
