What's the difference between SDTV and HDTV?

I'm confused.

SDTV means standard definition television and HDTV means high definition television. By there name, you can imagine that, HDTV is better than SDTV in quality and cost. Aspect ratio of SDTV is 4:3, for HDTV its 16:9 which will give you a theatrical look.

HDTV has better picture and sound quality than SDTV. But in order to get this better quality, you will probably need a Blu-ray player or some High Definitions satellite tv channels.

SD or "Standard Definition" is the low resolution seen on old style televisions. HD or "High Definition" is a new higher resolution which has much better picture quality.

SDTV is Standard Definition Television and HDTV is High Definition. HD TV better allows you to see HD channels in a clearer, brighter light. It enhances your TV experience.
