What would cause a bump on my dog's skin with black discharge?

Answer by  Momof3boys (83)

Well, it could be anything from skin infection, cysts, tumors or even an insect bite with a venom that is causing an allergic reaction. I don't think I would want to guess because u didn't give enuf info. For instance is there an odor coming from there too?

Is it by the ear? Ear mites can cause a black discharge... just an FYI :-)  add a comment

Skin growths, lumps and bumps that are black or have a black discharge could be a sign of a tumor or possibly a skin infection. This can be vary serious and will require blood tests in order to give you a solid diagnosis. Seek professional assistance at your earliest convenience.

You really should be taking your dog to the vet instead of asking online. There are so many things that could be wrong and by the time you get an answer it could turn from being a minor problem into a really major one. Please take your pooch in soon.

My dog has had the same thing happen - definitely no foul odor in hers, and hasn't seemed to fill back up yet. Trying to figure out what it might be.
