What was the purpose of the Schlieffen Plan?

It was written in the early 1900s so I don't get how it relates to WWII.

It was a strategic plan Germany was supposed to use if caught between a fight involving France and Russia. It doesn't relate to WWII, but the slightly-similar Manstein Plan does.

The Schlieffen plan was the battle plan for Germany to go to war with France and Russia. It was used in World War I, and copied somewhat for WWII.
