Taking multi-vitamins might help because those don't only contain calcium, which is the vitamin needed for the bone, they contain several other vitamins.

Vitamin A promotes bone growth. It also helps your vision. One should take Vitamin D too. Vitamin D helps absorb calcium from food. Lack of Vitamin D can lead to osteoporosis. Vitamin K supplements may also help improve bone mass as well.

The most commonly prescribed vitamins for keeping bones strong is calcium in the form of calcium citrate along with Vitamin D. If the pain problem is with the joints, some people have found glucosamine supplements useful.

Vitamin C and D are typical minerals which are known to promote bone health in humans. There are many prepared drinks and supplements which are designed specifically to help defeat bone density loss and combat osteoporosis, which are two major concerns of the fifty and above age group. A balanced diet can be as effective.
