Personally I plastered over the creases between panels and sanded them down, then I painted over it. I think paneling is kind of cheesy looking and therefore by plastering the panel creases, I made the walls seem almost dry-walled, without all the effort to put into removing the panel and putting up the drywall.

You should consider what bests suits the living space and your personality. A study should be a place of quiet and solitude. Consider decorating with clean lines and good task lighting.

If you like the paneling, you could decorate with an earthy palette and plaid fabrics giving a rustic feel to he room. If you don't, you could fill the grooves with a wood filler, smooth, sand, prime, paint and decorate any way you want.

If you don't mind using a paint techinque, try color washing. This adds subtle color to the pine without taking away the wood look. Pick a paint color and mix 50/50 with water. Test to see if you like the effect, if not, add more water or paint. Wash on the walls with a rag. Wipe off excess.

Pine paneling can be painted. Painting it to white can make the room seem larger and open it up and make it more inviting.

One way to dress up pine paneling is to paint it white. This changes the look and saves alot of money in redecorating. Another way is to buy wallpaper made to cover uneven surfaces. It has a pretty pattern.

Well you can add stickers on to the paneling. Also , you may consider engraving on the paneling to make it look classy.
