Tennessee currently leads the 49 other states in minimizing the cost of living, followed by Kentucky, Oklahoma, Arkansas, texas, and Mississippi. The states with the highests costs of living tend to be in the northwest (like Connecticut for example).

In the 1st quarter of 2010 the lowest living cost was in state Tennessee. Almost 11% lower than the US average.
